Fanatic have been hard at work on the new 2012 wave and freestyle boards which will shortly be available here in the UK.
As well as some amazing looking new graphics, there have been a number of changes to the range.
Fanatic’s flag ship waveboard has been under the knife and re-sculpted. The range has been made more lively and earlier planing with a combination of less tail kick, a wider outline, a thinner profile, a reduced double concave and a different front fin. The tail has also been reshaped into a rounded pin to smooth out the turns (especially in bigger waves).
It is now being offered in two constructions: the Glass Double Sandwich (slightly heavier and cheaper) construction and the Team Edition (Carbon/Kevlar) construction.
There are five boards in the range: 69, 75, 81, 87 and 94
The Skate (freestyle) range has also had some shape changes – after remaining the same shape for 2010 and 2011.
There are three new shapes (89, 99 and 109) which get progressively shorter as the boards get bigger! The noses have been rounded to give smoother sliding and the mid rail has been thinned to improve the carving. The deck also has a ‘Smart Foot Arch’ which makes it easier to grip with your feet when doing crazy moves.
It is available in two constructions: the Biax Glass Sandwich (slightly cheaper and heavier construction) and the Team Edition (Carbon Kevlar) construction.
The Fanatic Freewave shapes have remained the same for 2012. However, the TEXTREME construction has been expanded to 3 models (85, 95 and 105). The construction uses a special carbon weave that allows the fibres to take a lot of load for their weight. This results in a very strong, lightweight construction.
These ranges have remained unchanged from the very popular 2011 models.
