Naish Boxer Sail 2007
It always helps when one of your Team Riders becomes PWA Wave Champion on your kit and no doubt Kauli Seadi’s winning ways have made the Boxer a good seller for Naish. So they can’t have changed the 07 model that much, can they? Mini-interview with Naish’s Product Manager, Michi Schweiger: Who has been responsible for the development of this sail & the testing? Michi: The development of any sail in the Naish range is always based on our sail designer Nils Rosenblad, Robby and myself. In the case of the Boxer, Kauli brings in a huge influence as it is basically the sail that he rides for all conditions at this point. Practically what will a sailor notice about a 07 model over a 06 model? Michi: The lighter weight of the sail as well as the bigger wind range from low end to top end. How will it perform differently? Michi: We packed in a little bit more low end power than in ’06 so that the sail has more grunt for onshore conditions. But with new material distribution we managed to keep the top light. However, the main advantage is the bigger range and balance between low end and top end. What’s different about the ‘window scrim’ this year? Michi: The super wide scrim in the window area lets us achieve very light weight and durability in the main stress area at the same time. Another aspect is that the visibility through the window is significantly better with the wider scrim. The sails seem to have more graphic design in them this year? Michi: As you can see in our entire 07 line they are pretty strong in colour. We believe that windsurfing is a colorful sport and that good visibility is not only stylish but also a safety feature. Who would choose the Boxer over the Session or Force? Michi: I would see that cross over riders who also want a compact freestyle sail would prefer the Boxer over the other wave sails. The sails are very compact and are usually chossen by lighter riders who can fully profit from the shorter masts
