Simmer Boards 2012

New for 2012, Simmer have introduced three ranges of waveboard very shortly to be available in the UK.

The board shaper is Ola Helenius who has years of experience, having previously worked for another brand. He has a PhD in Mathematics, has developed his own CAD tool and is a dedicated wave-sailor himself. He has been working alongside chief tester, Kai Katchadourian and designer Tomas Persson to put together this fantastic-looking range.

The boards all have a high-quality manufacturing process that uses ‘Carbon X’ construction: a kind of carbon stringer that both makes the board stronger and provides a controlled flex to promote drive in the bottom turn.

FlyWave (Hardcore Wave)
Simmer Fly Wave

The Flywave is the no holds barred down-the-line quad-fin board. It’s a narrow-outline, high rockered board with deep single concave. The boards will be available in three sizes: 69 (54 wide), 75 (55 wide) and 84 (56.4 wide).

According to Simmer, the efficiency of these boards mean that you don’t have to over-size them to get good light-wind performance.

Quantum (Worldwide Wave)

The Quantum is the all round quad-fin waveboard. It is designed to be very loose so that it can be whipped around in small waves and very fast, to get you going quickly and help you jump high.

It is wider than the FlyWave with a medium rocker, a shallow single concave and further back footstraps to make the turns snappier.

It will be available in two sizes: 75 (56.5 wide) and 85 (58.5 wide).

FSW (Freestyle Wave)

The FSW comes with three fin boxes and can be used as a single fin or tri-fin (both fin sets are included). In single fin mode, the board is designed to be a classic freestyle-wave shape for blasting, carving and sliding. In tri-fin mode, it turns into more of a waveboard, gripping more but still planing early.

The FSW has a fast rocker line with a wide outline and a narrow tail, to give early planing, snappy turns and good control through chop. It has a double-concave with a fairly flat section between the straps to give a lively but secure ride.

It will be available in three sizes: 85 (58.5 wide), 95 (60.5 wide) and 105 (63.5 wide)
