Scott McKercher on his Blade during the 2006 Aloha Classic in Maui (PWA/Carter)

Severne Blade 2007

The all round wave sail from Severne has one difference for 2007 - it's tougher! Here is what they say:

Severne UK: The classic feel of the Blade has not been changed. The power is concentrated low down for plenty of drive giving a direct and responsive feel. The draught at the bottom end helps to keep the centre of effort locked forward whilst a smooth and progressive twist down the whole leach allows the head of the sail to open. It will set on either SDM or RDM masts and is targeted at those looking for a real all round wave sail.

The real difference for 2007 is construction. The main focus for the coming season has been to make the Blade much tougher and more durable. There are now double stitched seams in all the high load areas, a 5mm X-Ply rig perimeter to maximise durability on the outer edges of the sail, ARC patches to reduce loading particularly on the vertical seems and an evolution of the Metal X material, now used by most sail companies, that increases strength and reduces weight.
