75kg

Board
Make: F2
Model: Eliminator
Size:

242cm long, 50cm wide, 641ltr

Shaper: Patrick Diethelm
Used for: Super-cross (freestyle-race)

Q: What do you like about the board?

A: It’s very quick and points much higher than freestyle designs but is more manoeuvrable than slalom designs.

Q: What are its limitations?

A: It needs very good technique to perform the latest freestyle tricks. It can be spocked OK but flakas are tricky due to it’s sharper edges.

Q: What sail sizes can you use with it?

A: Personally I would use up to a 6.5 (I have Gasstra Echos) and down to probably 5m. I have known people to comfortably use 7m and above, full on slalom sails, but didn’t find that worked well personally.

Q: What fin do you use with it and where do you position it?

A: Power box 25 and 27 Freeride Northshore fins. I didn’t use the one supplied which for me is too much of a slalom fin and I mainly do freestyle on this board.

Q: Where do you put the mast track for different sail sizes?

A: The 6.4 Gasstra Echo goes very close to the front, but this is largely due to the design of the Gaastra’s with the centre of effort further back than most. I would guess your average 5.8 would go mid-track.

Q: Where do you set the footstraps and why?

A:

The inboard settings with the back strap one hole from back and the front strap one whole from front. This is because I’m lazy and set up all my boards this way, but it does seem to work.

Q: What other boards are in your quiver?

A: F2 wave boards and a CompStyle 244.

Q: Any other comments?

A: When I chose the board I was hoping to use it for light wind freestyle. My thinking was that the slalom rocker would help it plane early (which it does) and that its small size would make it easy to pop and do tricks. In practice the board prefers to be powered up with something smaller than my biggest sails and is a little bit too geared for slalom. This is still a better board for light wind freestyle than last year’s Comp Style however, and is actually a great little blaster too.
Although for those real light wind freestyle days I think the big Comp Style 246 is a better option and this years Comp Styles (2005) are awesome and way better than I expected.

The Eliminator really is a Supercross board, a Slalom board which you can Spock.
