PWA Chile Cancelled!
This years Chile trip was supposed to be a bit different to my previous trips down here, as it was announced, for the first time, that a PWA World Cup event will take place in the second half of November. I had mixed feelings about it. On the one hand I was looking forward to compete in the powerful waves I sail in every winter, and potentially boost my overall result, on the other hand I was not sure about having 32 PWA sailors getting tuned to the conditions at the same time, mainly because the spot can’t handle too many people. In the end the event got cancelled last minute and just a few days before our booked departure from Maui to Chile, from one World Cup to the next.
Robby is positive that it will happen in the upcoming season instead, let’s keep our fingers crossed
I went anyway, November is one of the windiest months in Chile. I was not the only one who had tickets booked, Victor was ready to go, Robby Swift – who tried to organize the event in Chile – also took a plane just after the Maui event. But not only the Chile-regulars showed up. The fresh new world champ Brawzinho, Adam Lewis, Dany Bruch, Leon Jamaer and Alessio Stillrich all found their way to Matanzas to train for a potential 2014 event. Robby is positive that it will happen in the upcoming season instead, let’s keep our fingers crossed! - KV
