On 20th January, just as it got dark in the UK, Robby Swift was tweeting from Maui:
5.45am. Still dark but full moon so we can put the jet ski in the water and head up to jaws! Hope it’s fun!
What followed was what Robby described as one of the best days of his life:
I havent been on Maui for any really good Jaws swells. This one had been forecast to be one of the biggest ever so hundreds of people had flown over to surf, watch, film and take photos.

In the 8 years since I have had a jet ski, I have surfed Jaws about forty times but only windsurfed it 3. This was the best session by far. I borrowed a great board from Jason Polakow (he wasnt here to use it) and I felt really confident.
The wind was perfect for 5.1 and I was lucky to be on Campbell Farrells boat which made it really comfortable for rigging, waiting and resting.
I spent 11 hours on the water that day surfing and sailing and had probably more waves than anyone else!
