Because size matters: The Results

With nearly a thousand entries already, we can now give you the results of our wave height challenge.

We have also asked top UK wavesailor Ben Proffit and top UK freestyler Max Rowe to give their comments and some interesting perspective on each wave. Neither of them knew the public’s results before commenting.

The Results

The majority of you gave it “logo high”, although, a quarter of you thought it was merely head high.

Ben Profitt: I’ve got to say logo high on this one. It’s at least three quarters of the way up his mast. Some people might say head high, but this is logo high to me.

Max Rowe:
I’m not personally sure were the logo is, so I am going to go for mast high – it looks like it’s nearly there as he’s laying the sail down

Waist high was the winning result although, over a quarter of you went for knee high.

Ben Profitt:Pretty small…You might say waist, it’s already broken so it’s pretty hard to tell. Some people might say knee high as well – it’s pretty small, isn’t it…

Max Rowe:
I’d say that’s about a waist-height Pozo-style wave.

This onshore wave seemed to split the results a fair bit. The consensus was logo high, but there was still a lot of you giving it either head or mast high.

Ben Profitt: I’d have to put it in between logo and head high. It’s not much overhead.

Max Rowe:
I am quite intrigued by this logo option between head and mast, so it must be around there somewhere…

This Jaws monster has split the results. It is rare for waves of this size to be measured in anything but feet. Interestingly, these results have put it between about 25 and 40 foot!

Ben Profitt: That’s a biggun. People judge this kind of thing differently but, for me you just look at the bloke that bottom and add up how many masts there are above his head and you would have to say triple…. That seems pretty big!

Max Rowe:
Triple mast, I would say, I think you can see that quite easily.

Most of you went for head-high on this, which is actually a pretty small wave for Cural Joul in Cape Verde.

Ben Profitt: Probably head high, for Hancock, I think it’s double-overhead…

Max Rowe:
It looks massive on Hancock, but I would go head high on a normal size person.
