Uh oh….it’s a student summer roadtrip.

The FOUR-part Student Summer Plan according to Bristol University student Tanya Saleh:

  1. June/July - earn as much money as possible in the shortest amount of time.
  2. Find the windiest place in the world during August.
  3. Get there and spend as much time as possible on the water.
  4. Return to reality and Uni in September.

This year, Tanya and her photographer buddy Chris Hughes are amidst the creation of one of the largest self-assembled student convoys ever seen and Boardseeker will be getting the latest reports through the genius of the internet as Tanya and pals drive the 2500 miles through Europe to Moulay Bouzerktoun in Morroco.

Tanya explains……

Back in December at a chilly SWA event we all heard though the grapevine that Moulay Bouzerktoun in Morocco is a must for August. Hooked on the idea, the six of us declared we were going to drive there! The next (even colder) SWA event soon came round, and with it the discovery that news travels fast. No longer was it just 6, but now more like 26 madly insane students from all corners of the country full of the talk of Morocco .

So with August drawing near, ferries, flights and channel tunnels are booked! With Sarah and Simon having already left, the Sheffield contingent leaving in July, and the rest leaving in August, we shall be convening somewhere along the 2500 mile mission to Morocco. To make the prospect of such a long drive more enjoyable, many of us will be keeping close to the French coastline with the non-driver’s eye on the wind and swell so as not to miss out on any opportunities along the Atlantic coast.

We must not forget about the poor “ex” students who now have “proper” jobs and are thus unable to go galavanting for 5 weeks at a time. Desperate to join in on the action, many have booked their flights and shall be joining the rest of us in the desert for a week or two.

Trip sponsors are on the incline: already on the line up are Boardseeker, Sola Wetsuits and more recently ‘Cameras Underwater’ who are very kindly loaning us underwater housing. This shall be an invaluable piece of equipment at Moulay due awesome sunsets, thus giving us maximum potential to capture this un-photographed spot in its best light.

So watch this space for updates on the madness and mayhem that is sure to take place in the next 6 weeks…
