Moves of the Month: One-handed grubby & spock

Name: Mattia Pedrani
Sail No: I-00
Home Town: Legnano (Milan) but currently living at Lake Garda
Sponsors: Mistral, North Sails, Dakine, MFC, SurfSegnana, Scorpion Bay, Morgan

Where was this filmed?

Mattia:This clip was filmed in al Prà, a spot on the west side of Lake Garda which works great when it's clear and sunny in the morning when the Peler (thermic north wind) blows.

Did it take you a long time to learn it or did it just happen?!

Mattia: It took me about five attempts to get the first one. I went to Fuerte for the PWA freestyle contest and saw Gollito doing one handed shakas taking the hand off way before jumping into the move. So I thought, "ok, that can be done with a lot of moves!".

What's the next move you’re going to try to do one-handed?

Mattia: I already got some spocks and a couple of one-handed chachos all the way. I think I’ll now try some flakas, switch flakas, esliders and of course shakas!!

- 25 year Timeline

Did you know that F2 are 25 years old? They started off with only two boards and along the way dropped out of the World Cup because of Robbie Naish, then went bankrupt. The take over brought in Bjorn Dunkerbeck – enough said. Along the way, the Sunset Slalom at only 272 cm long was a classic, years before its time. Whilst Dunkerbeck was dominating the World Cup, they signed a lesser known Josh Stone and re-wrote the history books again as modern freestyle was invented, with Josh & his spock.

Wild Tracks

F2 did their 07 Photoshoot in Western Australia this year. They also took along TONIX Pictures to film the action. The result: a pretty cool DVD coming out end of September.
