Fatface event:
Win [16.92MB]
Mac [18.31MB]

This festival exceeded all expectations: it was for everyone and anyone to do with windsurfing. There was no agenda apart from a series of simple master blasters. The message was clear: go and windsurf!

Many people said it was the best event they had ever been too. There were over 350 windsurfers on the water and perhaps that many camper vans in the car park. The Pro windsurfers were there in force and were mixing it up with everyone else so the day just turned into one huge expression session.

The master blaster racing was an area of complete carnage; hundreds lining the beach before running (fingers crossed) into the substantial shore break of doom. The race was to get to the outside buoy and back. To many that was easier said than done with the winds gusting 40 knots. The front of the fleet saw names from the past, including Julian Anderson, Dave Hackford and Julian Du Vall. Chris Audsley and John Skye also notable at the front in the races they entered. The rest of the time they were too busy enjoying themselves amongst the masses, leaving Julian Anderson to dominate the racing. Many new faces were competing in their first event, and surprising themselves with their speed as the top 20 constantly changed names.

Anyone watching from the shore were spoilt for choice as Andy King, John Skye, Kevin Mevissen, Chris Audsley, Andy ‘Bubble; Chambers, Mat Pearch, Ben Proffitt, Phil Horrocks and James Cox put on the ultimate windsurfing show with some big jumping and wave freestyle to masses of applause - it was epic. We didn’t come across one person at the event not enjoying themselves.

Then there was the first ever Night Windsurf competition. One thing for sure: it was very dark!
