6. Do I need insurance?

Read on for why we say YES!

We recommend you get third party insurance which covers you for damage to anyone else’s equipment or person.

You can join the BKSA which automatically covers you with 3rd Party liability insurance (to value of £5m) whilst flying any kite on water or land.

By paying membership of the BKSA you are actively supporting the funding of BKSA activities, some of the main ones are listed below:

  • Training and Schools.
  • Access for all.
  • Local Clubs.
  • Events.
  • Juniors.
  • Website Publicity.
  • Promotional material.

Membership is open to any nationality.

Individual membership £30 (Adult or Junior)
Family membership £62.  2 adults and as many children (U18’s) who live at the same address.

Join: www.kitesurfing.org

Equipment insurance: this is optional and depends on the state of your kit and your bank balance! If you’ve spent hard earned cash on buying a new beginner package then for another few quid it is probably worth it. The insurance should cover accidental damage and theft.
