They were all the rage in the late 1980’s. They were resurrected in the mid '90s with Josh Angulo building his reputation sailing Twin Fin boards. But they were dropped in favour of single fins, due to the better speed and more all-round performance that single fins offered.

This all changed when the Pro fleet saw Kauli Seadi take wave riding to another level using Twin Fin boards at the PWA event in Cape Verde earlier this year. Kauli had a style much closer to surfing than had ever been seen in windsurfing competition; always staying connected to the wave, finishing his turns properly and generally having a very loose, surfy style. After this event, every Pro sailor and his dog got a Twin Fin board to try.
Here follows 14 of the world’s top sailors explaining their experiences and thoughts on Twin Fin boards. If these guys don’t know whether they work or not, nobody does!

"Nik Baker: He was making the rest of us look a bit old fashioned (Kauli at the PWA event in Cape Verde)"
