Boardseeker Tiree Challenge: What the sailors (actually) think?!
So we set the Pro's a challenge; a rather radical challenge but worth the fear & pain with a sweet £1000 to be won if one of them could just sail away from either a triple forward or a double pushloop. Now with days to go until the PWA Tiree event when the Boardseeker Challenge will be run, we thought we would ask the sailors whether they were going to go for it and if not, who would?
The Results: Well read below but it’s fair to say one name cropped up time & time again!

Sailor: Alex Mussolini.
Going for it?: Maybe, may be I am gonna go for it but hey I don’t want to risk my life also!
Who would: I think that maybe Ricardo (Campello) will go for the triple forward and that maybe Victor will try the double push loop. |

Sailor: Marcilio Browne
Going for it?: If it is starboard tack - maybe. If everybody starts to push each other to do this triple forward then I will try as well.
Who would?: If it is port tack I think for sure that Ricardo or Victor or Kauli are going to try. Especially Ricardo as he has big balls and is going to go for it even if he breaks himself. Both will be very difficult but if it’s really windy maybe the triple forward will be the move; but it’s going to be really scary. |

Sailor: Victor Fernandez
Going for it?: I don’t know, it depends... if I see Ricardo try the triple I will try but I prefer to see Ricardo killing himself before I try.
Who would? I think maybe Orjan or Vidar Jensen will also try. |

Sailor: Robby Swift
Going for it?: I won’t try a triple forward but I will try a double pushloop as I think I have already done a few of them and will try again.
Who would?: Absolutely 100 % certain Ricardo will do it, and Kauli. Victor maybe. |

Sailor: Pete Volwater
Going for it?: Err…triples? 2000 euros heh. Break your neck for 2000 euros - is that a good deal? The nearest hospital is Glasgow . They charge in pounds there hey?! I may have to unpack my helmet.
Who would?: Ricardo would be the one but it will come down to whoever is crazy enough at the time. Maybe I will try the double back loop or push loop into back loop…maybe. |

Going for it?: No way am I trying a triple, no way. I like the double pushloop idea, I think that’s more do able.
Who would?: I think Ricardo is quite up for it as I think he may have a bonus from his boss as well! |

Sailor: Vidar Jensen
Going for it?: It’s kind of under paid for a triple as you are risking a lot. To get me to try you would have to pay me more than a thousand pounds but maybe if the conditions are good and everybody gets pumped up I may try the triple but double pushloop - no!
Who would?: Maybe one of the young kids will try like Ricardo or Victor. |

Going for it? No. Although if you offer me even more money – it’s tempting!
Who would?: If enough people egg him on Ricardo will do it and if he does then Victor will try too. |

Sailor: Julien Taboulet
Going for it?: Me? I am probably not going to try as I don’t want to die. I am maybe too old to try!
Who would?: Ricardo can try and Kauli, maybe Thomas (Traversa) why not? Victor for sure. I think that the guys who are over 25 are not going to try. |

Sailor: Kevin Pritchard
Going for it?: I can’t even do a double, hah, so I’m definitely not going to try a triple. The double pushloop…umm…I don’t think I will be trying that either.
Who would?: I am going to be leaving those moves up to the young kids, maybe Ricardo or Victor so it's up to them. |

Going for it?: No…
Who would?: …and no one is going to try it! |

Going for it?: Definitely not.
Who would?: From what I saw in Gran Canaria - Ricardo! |

Going for it?: Kauli will have no problems doing that but for me I have trouble even doing singles - hah!
Who would?: Ricardo will try as he’s kinda crazy. What about the push loop into back loop, for sure that’s possible though? |

Sailor: Kauli Seadi
Going for it?: Nahh…I don’t think I will go for that. I don’t think I am ready.
Who would?: I think that Ricardo has already done a triple and he will try a double pushloop too. You are going to have to have some balls to do them both! |

Sailor: Nik Baker
Going for it?: I pretty much won’t be trying one intentionally that’s for sure.
Who would?: There’s a possibility depending how fired up they are I would say that some one like Ricardo or Victor would have the control. Kauli could be radical enough to try it. Guys like Vidar and Pete Volwater can kind of go mental at times and could do one, even Swifty could go psycho and do it. It will be exciting from where I will be sitting on the beach! |

Going for it?: Yeah definitely. I think everybody will try, I think they should raise the prize money as I am going to spend more money than that in the hospital for sure.
Who else will try? Marcilio will also try but it has to port tack for me to try the triple, starboard tack - no way. |

Going for it: Yeah for sure I try.
Who else then? Ricardo maybe Victor and Jonas will for sure try it. As long as we push each other the sport will develop further still. |
The PWA Tiree event runs from 6-13th October. Once the main competition is over, Boardseeker will run their Tiree Triple Challenge. Pray for wind! |
