Photos by John Carter

This boy can goita in almost any conditions. Here we have the photo sequence from sunny, starboard tack Crossapol and the video sequence from port tack, cross off Balevullin during Day 2 of the contest.

John: "Why can I land these well? Because I’ve tried millions of them! We were watching the 2003 Tiree Wave Classic highlights and I was attempting the move back then off the back of every wave. Crossapol (photo sequence) was classic goita weather; cross shore, head high waves. Balevullin (video) was tricky as the wind was offshore but I pulled it out the bag because I was against Chris Audsley ! The next step is to land them consistently one-handed. I’ve done a few on the wave at Ho’okipa.

Next move for me? This time next year it would be quite cool to have move of the month; Skyeboy forwards off the lip. Better get practising!"
