Just two weeks in from the official PWA Calendar release and the third event now looks to be getting the chop. Could this be a sign of things to come?

Although as yet unconfirmed by the PWA themselves, we have strong reason to believe that the organisers have unfortunately been cut short their much needed government funding.

There is a strong outcry from those closely involved that the government has made a poor decision, and that whilst they can happily support their own offshore bank accounts, they are unable to justify the funds to fulfil the dreams of many professional windsurfers world wide.

Small glimmer of hope

Without official confirmation from the PWA, it is possible that we could see them come to the support of the Venezuelan organisers. Whilst this has been done in the past, it is a rare occasion for such support to be easily handed out and would no doubt normally require some assurance that the event would happen for years to come.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Could the event still happen or are the government too corrupt? Should the PWA step in and offer their support?
