Below the Surface, the final movie from Andre Paskowski made it’s premier in Sylt just a few weeks ago, now it will be shown for the first time in the UK by Nik Baker and the K66 team.
This year saw the incredibly sad passing of Andre Paskowski, a talented and inspirational windsurfer and a dear friend to many. Andre’s past films, Four Dimensions and Minds Wide Open are renowned within the windsurfing and watersports industry. His more recent shorts, ‘Rewarded’, the story and ‘nod’ to his great friend Gollito Estredo and Magic Moments, which presented Andre’s amazing outlook on life and his explanation for the passion behind his film making, are both inspiring and emotional and never just a one time watch.
Just before Andre managed to complete, what was to be his last film, he lost his fight to Cancer. Thanks to Carolina, Andre’s girlfriend and the Below The Surface team, they added the final touches to this beautifully shot film and now we all have an opportunity to see Andre’s last creation.
The film tells the story of World Wave Champion Victor Fernandez. We see Victor’s journey from his childhood home in Almeria, Spain, to his amazing accomplishments as World Champion. In the film we meet other windsurfers who are connected to Victor in some way, a friend, a competitor or an inspirational mentor in Victors windsurfing vocation.
Below the Surface captures Andre’s sentiments on life which he measures in moments, feelings and emotions, rather than time and this is very much what we see here in his latest movie.
