Canarian Speed Championships

Online Editor

Being on site we thought we would bring you a little update from the warm-up event of the Dunkerbeck GPS Speed Challenge, which is also the European Speed Championships.

With a fleet of motivated windsurfers, over 20 competitors signed up ready to take on each other to find out who is the fastest from all the Canary Islands. Unfortunately day one provided teasing winds throughout, enough so that even a few were lured on to the water to catch the odd gust. However, it never really filled in to the standard that would have been suitable to commence competition.

So as more competitors arrived for the main event there was a chance for everyone to catch up and discuss their winter season and what was in store for the coming months.

With a stronger forecast for tomorrow we should see a Canarian speed champion crowned by the end of the day.

Check out a small gallery and the entry list for the Canarian Championships below. Stay tuned for more updates from the main event, kicking off later today.
