Day 4
“The wind Finally shows up”
Blue Sunny skies on the 4th day of IFCA Freestyle Junior World Championships with winds
slowly building up. After the skippers meeting a SUP Race was organized and everyone could register to participate. Short after Lunch Time the competition area was being set up with thermal winds already blowing at 17 knots.

The conditions were slightly gusty and choppy with a few small waves rolling in from time to time. The riders in the early rounds in both of the elimination rounds had a bit of difficulty getting their groove together, the same goes for the Russian Talent Kostya Smirnoff who struggled a bit in the tricky conditions and lost his battle against Italian Riccardo Marca who managed to perform with a good overall routine.

Steven Max from Aruba had some of the most spectacular moves and is definitely the one to keep an eye on. Steven performed with style and power all the way to the finals against the well prepared Jonathan Yagen from Israel. Jonathan had a variety of tricks on both tacks and seemed to pull of just a few more extra tricks then his contenders.

Results Single 1:
4. Kostya Smirnoff RUS-1
3. Riccardo Marca ITA-988
2. Steven Max ARU-888
1. Jonathan Yagen ISR-02

During the small break a Kite demo session was being held and the double elimination could start. The conditions were getting lighter but it was still possible to finish the double. The competition was as tight as in the double and this time Steven got to win from Jonathan but he had to beat him twice to claim his victory so the final became a super final in the late afternoon with a beach packed with spectators.

Results Double 1:
4. Kostya Smirnoff RUS-1
3. Riccardo Marca ITA-988
2. Steven Max ARU-888
1. Jonathan Yagen ISR-02

It was a great day full action from SUP Races to Windsurfing competitions for the Junior World Title, Skate Boarding a Kite demo show and ended with an amazing Fly Board performance.

Tomorrow the skippers meeting is scheduled at 9:00am because of a better forecast.
