White Air Wind!!!

Boardseeker

Friday saw some awesome conditions for the pro riders at the final event of the KBBT Tour. 20 knots of constant wind blew lasting nearly all day and only dropped off in the final!

A new format took place where only two riders were on the water at the same time. They had to take it in turns to come into the area bust a trick turn around, bust another trick leave and then the other rider came in to do the same. The heats were the usual 8 minutes long giving the riders around 5 counting runs. This \’take it in turns\’ format ensured that all 3 judges were able to watch every single trick pulled off by every single rider!!!

The format created by riders representative and boardseeker team rider, Neal Gent (RRD) worked really well and is definately a way forward for these kind of events in the future.

Unfortunate incident of the day was major and very impressive wipeout from Jo Wilson where she had to be carried out the water and carted straight off to hospital. She is ok, but is now sporting a full leg plastercast and suffering from ligament damage.

I\’m really gutted cos amongst everything else I can no longer fly to Brazil on Tuesday to enter the Final of the World Cup competitions!! I have ripped the medial collateral ligament from the bone and have to go for an MRI scan next week to see the extent of the damage! I\’m just hoping that there is no problem with the ACL.

Despite Jo\’s wipeout she managed to do enough to win this event and as such the KBBT title for a second year running.

A big thank you has to go out to the sponsors of White air who were absolutely fantastic and put on a great show with great prizes and great entertainment! It was brilliant to see King of Shaves get involved and provide every entrant with the tools to be the smoothest, sexiest person around. Also RRD sponsored this event and Roberto Ricci himself as well as UK brand manager Wouter Arden came down to join in the fun and keep everything running smoothly! A big thank you to RRD and King of Shaves because without them this awesome event couldn\’t happen!!!
