The Women got out first on day 2 of the Formula Worlds in Melbourne, Australia. Allison Shreeve stepped up the game today (after a collision on the startline yesterday cost her dearly) and took 2 first places in the womens fleet.
4 times World Champion Dorota Staszewska could do nothing to combat the Australians form today and had to follow her around the course taking a 2nd and 3rd placing which has dropped her to 2nd overall behind Allison.
Boardseeker Team rider and top UK sailor Lucy Horwood is tuning back into her Formula kit after spending the year RS:X training and notched a 4tha nd a 2nd today moving her up to 4th overall.
The men were on hold for most of the day. Late in the afternoon, they were called out in a building wind and after a general recall, got underway in over 20 knots of wind.
Overnight event leader Julien Quentel struggled a bit in the stronger winds scoring a 13th place in the one and only race. Instead, the big winds put the big names back at the front of the leaderboard with Micha Buzianis taking the race win ahead of Antoine Albeau, Ross Williams, Dennis Little and Wojtek Brzozowski.
Wojtek now takes the event lead followed by Julien Quentel, Devon Boulon and Ross Williams.
