Stronger winds today, with gusts over 20 knots, flat water and HOT temperatures!!
With gusty and shifty winds, consistency was difficult over the 2 races and the leader board is close at the top of both the mens and womens fleet.
In the mens fleet, Gonzalo Costa Hoevel took a much welcomed win in Race 4 after a so far dissapointing regatta for him. He was followed closely by North Sails tester Jimmy Diaz and Australian Steve Allen. Current Event leader Wojtek Brzozowski struggled to get to grips with the shifty conditions and only managed 15th place.
Race 5 was a different story with Neil Pryde tester Peter Bijl taking 1st place ahead of Antoine Albeau and Danish model Jesper Vesterstrom with Wojtek in 5th
This means that Wojtek retains his overall lead ahead of Antoine Albeau and Julien Quentel, but with only 1 point seperating each of them, anything can happen!!
The Uk\’s Ross Williams struggled a bit today with a 19th and a 9th, but with the discard is still placed in a very creditable 5th place. Keith Atkinson had a great day with two 8th places moving him up to 12th overall!
The womens fleet is seeing a change from the usual Dorota whitewash! Allison Shreeve currently leads the fleet with another first place today. Unfortunately Allison collided with a male compititor and damaged her foot badly just before the last race. She managed to take the win, but hobbled up the beach afterwards with a very swollen ankle – tomorrow could be a tough day for her!
Boardseeker Team rider Lucy Horwood scored a 2nd and 3rd today boosting her up to 3rd place overall behind Dorota and Allison.
Again the womens fleet is pretty close at the top so it will be interesting to see what the next few days bring. We will keep you posted!
