Welcome to a fresh week of news and video action here on Boardseeker.
Starting off the week is news from the RS:X World Championships in Cadiz, Spain. After 2 days of moderate winds, the fleets were stuck on shore on Friday as 40-knot winds battered the race course. Luckily, racing continued over the weekend and the fleets are now into the medal races. Leading the men\’s fleet is Dutch racer Dorian van Rijsselberge – and with just 5 points separating the top five places, it\’s all to play for going into the final days. With 20 knots already blowing at the event site, be sure to follow all the action on the offical website HERE. Below is the video from Day 4 of the event, complete with exciting commentary!
Next up is news from the tenth annual Red Bull StormRider event in Israel. Hot Sails Maui rider Eyal Shelef reports from the event, which saw howling winds, big waves and driving rain. Eyal came second in the event, just beaten by French rider Jules Denel who clinched the win with a sick double-forward. Read the report HERE.
The next video today comes from top PWA freestyler Dieter van der Eyken. Filmed on his trip to Western Australia last November, check out Dieter wave sailing and freestyling at Geraldton, Gnaraloo and on the Perth River. Great action and a nice edit from the young Belgian…
Over to Hawaii now and Turkish slalom sailor Enes Yilmazer reports from his spring training on Maui. Battling it out in strong winds and training with some of the world\’s best, check out what Enes thought of the trip and his plans for the coming season on his website HERE.
Also blogging away on Maui is Dutch freestyler (turning wave sailor!) Paul Zeper. Enjoying lots of action in the waves whilst still training for freestyle, check out a nice write-up and lots of photos HERE.
Down in Cornwall, UK sail brand 5-Oceans managed to sneak out of the office to secure some great shots of local sailor Ian Black making the most of the wind and waves. See the great photos and read all about it HERE.
Will Rogers also scored it down in Cornwall and has an in-depth report of his weekend posted on his blog. Managing to get in windsurfing and SUP sessions in one day, Will is really making the most of the conditions! Have a look for yourself by clicking here.
The Fishbowl Diaries crew have shared their latest awesome interview. Under the spotlight this time around is Elena Pompei. A sick wave sailor in her own right, Elena is also lucky enough to draw inspiration from her husband and windsurf legend Mark Angulo. Check out the chat and some amazing photos from Amorphia Photography by clicking HERE.
RRD rider and top wave sailor John Skye shares a quick report from Gran Canaria where the conditions have been more like the summer winds, with Skyeboy flying around on a 3.7. Follow John HERE as he jets off to Maui.
That\’s about it for this AM update, check back later for some awesome videos in the PM update.
