A mix of news from Bonaire starts us off today. First up is the good news. \’The Caribbean Cut\’ from freestylers Max Mattisek and Adrian Beholz. A smooth cut showing the two riders freestyling at a really high level in the Caribbean, cool action…
The bad news comes from the PWA who announce that the Bonaire stop on the freestyle tour has been cancelled due to a lack of funding. Great winds blessed the event last year so it is a real shame to see it dropped from the calendar this year, keep your fingers crossed for 2013. On Aruba, the Slalom competition has also been cancelled, with the organisers fighting to keep the freestyle discipline, let\’s hope it goes ahead as planned.
One event that is definitely going ahead is the Surf World Cup in Podersdorf, Austria. With the PWA and EFPT hosting competitions there, it is set to kick the freestyle season off with a bang. For anyone in attendance, Colin Dixon and Marco Wedele of Windsurf Coaching will be running some free clinics at the event site in conjunction with Continent Seven. Covering everything from beginner sailors to carve gybes and forward loops, be sure to check out the tuition from the guys. You can check out what\’s in store in this teaser for their upcoming DVD \’Go Pro with Colin and Marco\’.
World Number Five in freestyle, Davy Scheffers, has been interviewed by the team at Windsurfnews.de. Read all about Davy\’s winter training, his aims for 2012, video project \’Chasing the Dream\’ and what he is up to when not competing. Click HERE.
The WESH Centre in Leucate in the South of France has opened it\’s doors for business. Run by Julien Taboulet and his wife, the centre offers top-quality rental kit from Naish. Home to the world\’s first windsurf park, the team are also organising freestyle clinics with top riders Nicolas Akgazciyan and Alan Arnaud later this month. Read all about it on EFPT.net.
John Skye has landed on Maui for photoshoot season and has been enjoying some sick conditions. Sailing everyday so far, including a couple of mast-high days, John is ripping on his 2013 RRD gear and is caught in action here courtesy of Jimmie Hepp. Check out his short report on his blog.
