The 2012 PWA World Champions have been announced.

In slalom Antoine Albeau showed exceptional form throughout the year and took the overall top spot in the men\’s discipline. Having signed him up this winter just gone, RRD must be pretty stoked with the result and no doubt we can expect more from them. In 2nd place Bjorn Dunkerbeck, not so familiar with this spot he will be looking back at his run of bad luck and already planning his attack for next year. The final podium position went to an on form Micah Buzianis.

The slalom women saw a smaller tour this year and a tie-breaker for first place. In the end Valérie Arrighetti took the top spot by beating Karin Jaggi, who took second, more times when faced against each other. In 3rd place, Lena Erdil showed a consistant set of results to find herself on the last podium position.

In waves, Koester had already taken the top spot by Klitmoeller, so it was a fight for the last podium positions. Victor Fernandez was almost in a position where he couldn\’t come any worse than Vice World Champion for the year and by coming 3rd in Sylt he wrapped up 2nd place. 3rd overall was a close battle between Ricardo Campello and Alex Mussolini. In the end it was Mussolini who sealed the deal in the crucial heat when the two faced eachother in the double elimination yesterday and therefor taking the last remaining spot on the 2012 podium. Nonetheless, Ricardo Campello has a thing or two to say with this video.

Check out the final of the double elimination below and team Neilpryde in Klitmoeller below that.

On to the wave women and it was the usual affair with the Moreno twins. Except this time Iballa was crowned World Champion for the first time in a long time. Winning all three wave events she took the tilte in style. Runner up was Daida who has not had the easiest 18 months and we hope she remains strong and can come back to fight even harder for next year. 3rd place went to Karin Jaggi who continues to show that her experience rules over the younger Laure Treboux, however, Laure showed her potential by beating Jaggi in Sylt, watch this space…

In freestyle Jose \’Gollito\’ Estredo showed he continues to be the king of freetyle by taking his 5th World Title by winning every event. A blip in his carrier last year saw many question if he has what it takes, well despite breaking his wrist at the end of 2011 he came back stronger than ever before with powerful new moves and an unrivaled style! Kiri Thode also showed that he is not letting the level get away from him and held on to 2nd overall, the final spot going to last years World Champion, Steven Van Broeckhoven.

In the ladies, only one event on this years calendar saw Sarah Quita-Offringa titled as the World Champion back in Fuerteventura. Laure Treboux showed her diversity this year by also finishing 2nd in freestyle and Arianna Aukes took her first ever podium and as a result 3rd overall.
