PKRA Tarifa goes off

Boardseeker

With winds around 30-35knots the riders on the PKRA got out their kites they are most used after the previous PKRA contests.  5m\’s through to 7m\’s.  The event is being held in the European Kitesurfing capital – Tarifa.

Qualifiers were held for the guys yesterday allowing the single elimination of the freestyle to be completed today along with a best trick contest as well.

Ruben Lenten (Slingshot) is back after his ankle injury and was going absolutely huge on his 7m.  Landing crowd pleasing 20 ft high handle passes, the occasional double handle pass for good measure and enormous kite loops.  Unfortunately his landnings weren\’t 100% and he did go out in the second round.  Also from the Holland crowd Youri Zoon (Slingshot) continued with his powerful riding landing KGB\’s. mobes, slim\’s, 313\’s and more techinical stuff.  He rode consistently through out to take down Kevin Langeree (Naish) in the semi finals ready to face the on TOP FORM Aaron Hadlow (Flexifoil) in the final.

Aaron was clearly in a good mood and syked after his win in Canada and he was effortlessly landing kite loops of all variety and wierd varieties if things went wrong.  At one point he had sent his kite one way and got stuck flying backward through the air, so instead of crashing as most other PKRA riders would he sent it into the opposite kite loop allowing the kite to re balance him, wang him back round that extra 180 and he roded away as if part of the grand master plan!!!!  the bopy was going off!!!!

In the final despite the strong winds he was landing all the handle passes, nailing huge kiteloops and also landning an enormous Loop 3 (Back kite loop with a flat 360 spin with aerial handle pass.)  He had clearly won the fianl against Youri he was obviously struggling to get comfortable with the conditions.

For the girls there were 13 riders.  Gizella Pulido (Airush 12 year old grom) was one of these allowed to enter because of a wild card.  She was going for front mobes and 313\’s in her heats, but more consistantly landing big kite loops and surface passes.  She progressed against Jo Wilson (Naish) in the second round but was taken down by Bruna Kajiya (Best) in the 3rd round.  On the other side of the draw Ania Grzelinska (North) and Caroilina Winkowski (Naish) progressed.
