Four Nations Cup R2

Boardseeker

Flat calm seas and a slight offshore breeze meant that competition was called off at Rhosneigr on Sunday lunchtime. However, all the action was off the water.

With the top four Pros ending on joint positions, the judges decided to re-count the heat points from the finals to double check as things were so close.

To their horror, they realised that one heat sheet had been added up wrong by two very crucial points meaning that Ben Proffitt had won both rounds and was the overall winner with Andy King in second. Andy took the news on the chin and accepted the \’new\’ result – fair play to the guy – whilst Ben was stoked to have won on his home turf.

John Hibbard & Steve Thorp were joint third so with no more competition, the judges added all their heat points to give Hibbard the edge over Thorp.

No controversy in the other fleets so it was Graham Woods, Aleksy Gayda & Janine Guest who won the Youth, Junior & Ladies fleets respectively.

This event has been a great success mainly because of the number of Youth sailors who competed in the classic Rhossy conditions. They are the next generation and we look forward to charting their progress as they grow up and get better!! Thanks goes to Funsport for a fanastic weekend and to O\’Neill, O\’Shea and Fat Face for product prizes.

Round 3 is in September at Bigbury, however, the next Freewave event is at Bridlington over the Whitsun Bank Holiday.
