The Highland Spring Hi Ho is a week long race involving yachts, windsurfers and big cats speeding around the British Virgin Islands. Racing amongst the yachts from island to island, the race at the top end can be quite gruelling. As you mighte expect, the racing should build up a pretty big appetite, but it should even more so this year as on July 5th the racers will descend on Richard Branson\’s private Island for a feast to end all feasts.
This year is different from previous. There is a kids HiHo event planned alongside a new twist. Usually the racing is of a one design nature, this year there is an open fleet. The fleet are advised not to race formula boards, but larger slalom boards. Obviously Patrice Belbeoch did not see or hear this advice and his company have entered a fleet of Kona\’s to compete. Patrice himself will even be racing on some days. With $600 – $1000 prize money per day of racing we reckon he definately will be putting his money where his mouth is – or the other way round? I\’ve never quite worked out that phrase.
It\’s too late to enter now, but hopefully we can bring you some updates during the week. We certainly will have a full event report.
