PWA Alacati Slalom

Boardseeker

Day 1 of the event in Turkey saw ideal slalom conditions and three rounds were completed by the men, 4 for the women.

Antoine Albeau won ROUND 1 leading from the start despite an inside mark rounding attempt from Kevin Pritchard who eventually finished in second with Pieter Bijl in third.

However, in ROUND 2, Antoine didn\’t make the final losing out in the semis. Then in the final several sailors were caught over the line too early and sent back to the beach leaving a 5 man final. Kevin Pritchard won with Pete Volwater in second, Pieter Bijl in third.

With 25knots of wind, ROUND 3 saw Finian Maynard have a cracking start in the final until he crashed into Pieter Bijl at the second mark. Kevin piled in too breaking his mast (game over). This allowed Albeau & Dunkerbeck to lead on but Volwater was close behind and in the final reach overtook Bjorn to take second behind Antoine.

WOMEN: 4 races were run. Karin Jaggi won RACE 1, Marta Hlavaty won RACE 2 and Valerie Ghibaudo won RACE 3 & 4.

Day 2 of the PWA Slalom event and again 22-25knots of pure Turkish breeze allowed 2 men\’s races & another 4 women\’s races.

ROUND 4 of the men\’s saw Pieter Bijl win the final with Finian Maynard in second and Ben Van Der Steen in third.

ROUND 5 had lighter winds (15-20knots) and a longer course was set. Dan Ellis had a cracking start in the final until Antoine finally caught up with him followed by Bjorn leaving Dan in third.

The wind came back in ROUND 6 and consequently Antoine Albeau had a flawless race with Kevin Pritchard in second and Pete Volwater in third.
