In speed that is.
Bjorn Dunkerbeck and Dave White held a 2 hour question and answer session on all aspects of going fast to speedsailing hopefuls, at the Weymouth Sailing Academy to start off Weymouth Speed Week today.
Everything from fin size, to boom height, foostrap positions and adjustable outhauls to stance was covered as the audience lapped up the advice. Tomorrow sees the start of official competition, although lightwinds are predicted for the start of the week there will be 120 entrants which is the highest ever.
Bjorn will be there on production T1 boards and North Sails till 1.30pm tomorrow hoping to get a crack at the speed course before rushing off to Namibia for an ISA event over there.
Production Board Speed Champion Dan Ellis and World Record Holder Dave White will be there all week to compete and provide tips on speed. Entry is now full, but it will be worth going down to see what it is all about. Mid week will hopefully see some strong winds come through, and the record broken again.
We will be keeping you updated on the action and best speeds throughout the week.
Keep your eyes peeled for a full speed technique feature soon…
