The wind started blowing early this morning and the conditions are perfect. The men’s heats started punctually at 10:30. In the meantime the girls have been testing out their sails. Francesca and Maxime were out early this morning, training in the competition area and practising their moves, meanwhile Arrianne and Olya discussed which areas were best to do their moves. I better go now as its almost time for my heat. Stay tuned! Ah and also Yoli’s elbow is still sore, but she’s taped it up and will be competing.
End of day 2 and we had good wind for most of the day, apart from a lull in the middle, where the judges decided to cancel Maxime, Yoli, Arrianne and Maaike’s heats. Luckily the wind picked up again just half an hour later. The heats were really close with Arrianne only just beating Maaike and Yoli winning over local girl Maxime. Maaike impressed everyone with her consistency and diversity: flakas on both sides, clean esliders, punetas and funnells.
The conditions were really up and down all day, so the girls were swapping between sails ranging from 4.0 to 5.2. The loser and winners finals took place in very strong winds, with tricky choppy conditions and very shallow water. As usual Sarah Quita put on a great show, landing culos, burners and double spocks. In the end the queen of freestyle took first place again. Aukes reclaims her second place, Yoli 3rd and Oda 4th.
Keep reading tomorrow for the double elimination!
