In a statement released to the PWA riders, the affiliated press and other interested parties, the PWA announced just a few hours ago that the final planned stop of the PWA tour will be cancelled for this year. This means that Maui is to become the title race for the 2013 PWA Wave World Champion.
The most disappointed of all is none other than Robby Swift, organiser and front man for PWA Chile. Robby had his sights set on this event, and the planned 3 year contract from the head sponsor that was to front the prize money, since November 2012. Unfortunately, on the final hurdle their disappearance off the radar meant that despite Robby’s personal commitment, time and money the event has had to be postponed to 2014.
Not to be defeated, Robby will fly immediately to Chile after Maui is over and begin preparations for 2014. We look forward to seeing the competition take place in Chile in the near future.
Meanwhile this does give Maui another level of excitement as this event will be the final for the 2013 tour. So who do you think could take the title? Is Koester able to? Will Brawzinho step up to the plate, or will it be someone else? Be sure to watch all the excitement unfold LIVE on our homepage. Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
