The AWT and PWA have just announced that they will be running a joint competition on Maui at the end of this month (check all the JP Aloha Classic details here) This is possibly the most exciting news of the windsurfing calendar, which will see the world’s best back and competing in the home of windsurfing.
But who will come out on top? In our opinion it’s going to be a truly spectacular battle, with the new school PWA riders taking on some incredible Maui locals, plus could we see some of the old guard back and determined to take a win?
Here’s just a few names that we think could feature (we know there are a lot more to mention):
Kauli Seadi - has told Boardseeker he will be back on the PWA tour for Maui and Chile.
Philip Koester - 2012 world champion, he maybe known as a port tack rider but he has spent a lot of time on Maui already and looks fearless there too.
Marcilio Browne – event winner in Klitmoller, regarded as one of the, if not the, best rider in the world, an inspiration to watch in Maui.
Victor Fernandez - vice world champion in 2012, again Victor has honed his skills in Maui and as a constant competitor he will be one to watch.
Bernd Roediger - the winner of the AWT Maui event in 2012.
Camille Juban – the AWT tour winner in 2012.
Levi Siver - unbelievable rider and Maui local, but can Levi deliver in the contest?
Kevin Pritchard – second in the AWT event in Maui last year.
Who else? Thomas Traversa, Alex Mussolini, Robby Swift, Ricardo Campello, Graham Ezzy, the list goes on and on. And could we see the likes of Jason Polakow, Francisco Goya, Mark Angulo etc making their way back into competition for this homecoming event?
Who do you think could win in Maui? Have you vote below, or if we have missed your favourite rider let us know in the comments…
Check out more about the contest at the AWT website here, but Boardseeker will be right there at the event providing you with all the latest from the event.
