Year after year the action in Pozo gets better and better. The guys are just stepping it up in the air and in the waves; it’s truly impressive. Victor scored more points than his peers to take overall victory. He would hate to be called Mr.Consistent but he just doesn’t get his hair wet even when landing doubles. Ok, Ricardo Campello may be described as more radical but Victor sails brilliant finals – racking in the points with his version of radical.
What a contest for Tenerife local Dany Bruch. The lighter winds (4.7m weather) in the single elimination really suited Dany with his wave 360’s and good variety of jumps. Then we have the English legend that is Nik Baker; how does he do it at 37? Well, the single was all about wave riding with only two jumps to count and Nik sure knows his way around a Pozo wave. He racked up the points and got through heat after heat; an inspiring performance. But we have to end our brief intro with the youngest sailor in the fleet; Philip Koster. He’s fourteen years old, yes fourteen and he out-sailed the majority of the Men’s fleet in the single elimination. Just check out the moves in his video below – he defines the words ‘teenage prodigy’!
