We love it! Yes it is another Brazil video but this one is certainly worth a watch. The action is brilliant, the cut is spot on and the music strays a little from the norm. Featuring Max Rowe, one of the UK’s top freestylers, you’ll certainly find the level of moves world class as he shows power, style and technical difficulty that could well see him pushing even further up the ladder on this years PWA World Tour. What’s more the video, produced by Blacklab’s very own Josh Willmot is seriously high quality, so be sure to hit the HD button and enjoy it in all its glory.

We jumped at the opportunity to speak to these two and got a few words off them below…

Max Rowe

BS: Brazil is certainly one of your favourite spots, what keeps drawing you back there?
MR: Yeh I love it out there! Well for a start its windy everyday I dont have to take bigger than a 4.7 which is nice. Its just a really nice lifestyle out there as well, very relaxed, nice people, surf etc.
BS: You are busting out some pretty technical and power moves in this video, how necessary do you think it is to have these in your arsenal for competition this year?
MR: Cheers. It would be great to do a lot of those moves in heats but unfortunately it wont be that easy. I’ve been training them in the chop as well but its lot harder to do them in all conditions but hopefully I can manage a few.
BS: You are now in cape town, are you keeping on focus with intense freestyle training or are the waves grabbing your attention?
MR: My main focus here is the waves for sure, trying to learn to jump properly. There’s quite a few freestylers out here so I do keep on top the training for that. I’m off to Maui after here so think it could be pretty distracting out there!!!

Josh Willmot

BS: A different style of edit for you, yet another step up, what’s the plans for 2013 with filming, anything in the pipeline?
JW: Cheers. The next video will probably be a collection of footage from the last 6 months or so featuring Adam Sims so that should be fun. It would be nice to do a web edit from the UK thats not a competition, maybe wave sailing, maybe in the South West or Scotland. Other than that there could be something happening which would be epic but have to wait and see on that one for now.

BS: Have you considered a feature length film on freestyle windsurfing?
JW: Haha it would be cool to do but I think for me personally web edits are the way forward. You need a lot of skill, time and $ to make something that keeps people entertained for more than the length of your average web video. I’ve always wanted to see a film following the pro tour and the story that goes with it.

BS: Where do you see action sports film progressing, can it step up further, are there tricks of the trade that many windsurfing films miss out on or is it as much about the moves as it is the edit?
JW: I’m sure it will keep moving forward just like freestyle has. Brain Farm (The Art Of Flight) are producing a skate film and I’ve seen pictures of crazy motorised crane rigs chasing skaters around so that will probably be next level! If anything it’s probably more about the action and tricks than the edit but for sure you have to have a good balance between the two.

In the Autumn of 2012, Windsurfing Into the Unknown explored around the famous windsurfing and tourist town of Jericoacoara, Brazil, to see what kind of windsurfing spots they can find. Michael Rossmeier (Austria) and Philip Soltysiak (Canada) created a 4 episode series showcasing good spots to windsurf that are accessible from Jericoacoara. This is the second episode showing what wave sailing by “The Flag”, the main launch in Jeri, is like.

We caught up with Phil Soltysiak for a few words about this video:

“The focus is on waves in this video because all the videos online from windsurfing in Jeri are very freestyle focused, so we wanted to show people a different side of what Jeri has to offer on a regular basis, but a side that for some reason doesn’t receive much attention. As you can see in the video the conditions there are really easy to progress in wave sailing as there are no consequences for mistakes due to a sandy bottom and friendly wave”.

Well this is it for 2012, we hope you had plenty of sessions and that 2013 brings you everything you want.

Lots to get through, so enjoy what’s to come. Firstly, Al Bentley reports from the NZ Freestyle Nationals where he managed to secure the title. A full report from the successful event can be viewed here.

On UK shores the SWA have released a video from their latest event – Liverpool Northern Monkeys.

Here’s a very festive one for you, turns out Santa has been scoring some back loops since his busy night.

Last but by no means least Dany Bruch has been in touch with this round up of 2012 and wishes everyone a great 2013.

That’s it for this year, see you in couple days when we have that much anticipated website development.

Thanks for tuning in all and please spread the word about the all new boardseeker.com.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Good morning all and a we wish you a Happy New Year from all the team at Boardseeker. Obviously like most we will be taking the day off tomorrow but do not fear as we will be back with a fresh new approach in 2013. Individual news posts will fill up our home page, which will give you more to choose from and quicker access to it. For today we will sign out with our last lengthy post with plenty of video action.

It appears our call for videos last week created a spur of interest as we received a handful of clips. Opening up is probably the first of many that will come out of Jericoacoara this year, featuring Norwegian rising star Oda Johanne, certainly one to watch out for as she continues on her training mission around the world.

Now the AWT – American Windsurfing Tour is growing from strength to strength and their 2013 calendar is already set, what’s more they are currently offering a huge saving if you pay up in advance for your AWT Pass to enter all the events next year. Find out more by clicking on the image below.

Our next video shows us some more freestyle action, this time from Jacob Lindqvist. Spotted on the shores of Club Vass this summer, we can no doubt expect to see him again in the future. The dates for the 2013 PWA tour are not yet released but we are sure we will see Jacob either there or on the EFPT.

Chile appears to be going off lately, top names heading there like no tomorrow. The latest clip to drop includes Ricardo Campello and Robby Swift tearing up the waves down there.

We wrap up the morning with this quality one from Brazil. Not massively windsurfing heavy but it fills you with complete stoke about windsurfing whether you are just getting in to the sport or a full time pro. In addition to that, the whole thing is shot on the GoPro Hero 3, pretty impressive!
