VIDEO: Steffi Wahl 2012 Round Up

After finishing 5th overall on the PWA Tour last year Steffi Wahl made the migration to Cape Town for a warmer winter. Producing a consistent set of results in 2012 and with a nice set of turns, she is sure to be one to keep an eye on this year. No doubt aiming for the top three she will have to defeat the likes of Karin Jaggi, the Moreno twins and Laure Treboux. When quality meets a story the outcome is bound to be something special. Manuel Grafenauer and his girlfriend Amanda Beenen spent a long time in Cape Town this winter, the perfect opportunity to produce a video about her story and why she got into windsurfing. Well with a boyfriend who has the production of Gaining Grounds and Don’t Let Go on his CV you certainly wouldn’t expect anything less. Incredible shots, good music and a smooth cut, watch on and enjoy.

“WHY is a short movie about an unforeseeable change. Dutch windsurfer Amanda Beenen takes us back to the origin of her windsurf passion. In 2004, where this story starts, horse riding was her favourite thing to do. Back than it was very unlikely that she would ever live the life she is living now. A traumatic accident changed everything and her life turned in a totally different direction. Almost a decade later, it is clear to see that without this incident she would most probably still be horse riding and would have never put her feet into the straps of a windsurf board.”

VIDEO: Down the Line in Iwata, Japan

It’s all about Japan this morning, first we had Hiro’s high quality clip from Omaezaki and now just up the coast line is this spot, Iwata. It looks like it provides perfect side to side-off shore conditions with nice punchy waves. If you ever considered windsurfing in Japan this is the area to go. Watch as Makoto Higashiyama, Yoshitaka Ikeda, Hiromi Satou, Yoshiaki Nagamatsu and Takahumi Noguchi put themselves through some heavy wipe-outs but at the same time scoring some sweet waves.

VIDEO: Carro Wave Classic

Last weekend saw the completion of the Carro Wave Classic. An on forecast wave event held in France the organisers were waiting for the most extreme conditions, well it looks like the waiting game wasn’t for too long. Check out the action in the video by the masterful Sophia Regerbis and read all about it in the official event report below.

Last weekend (16/17th March) the spot of Carro in the South of France was the place to be to watch some seriously heavy windsurfing.

All-in Sport Beach Company launched a new concept of windsurfing event on the 1st March which was to include a two month waiting period for a one weekend competition in the hope that it will attract the maximum number of riders. Having attempted to make it happen last October until December, the All-in Sport Beach Company unfortunately lucked out with the conditions, well last weekend was the one!

Almost 90 Competitors showed up including the likes of Thomas Traversa, Julien Taboulet, Jules Denel and even Peter Volwater from the Netherlands. To read more hit the link below:

VIDEO: The Battle of the Generations 2012

“Film edit of the 2012 edition of The Plankenkoorts Battle of the Generations!

S.W.V. Plankenkoorts is a Dutch windsurfing community for students from Delft, Leiden and surroundings.
Every year current and old members of Plankenkoorts compete in this epic event at Scheveningen beach. The Battle of the Generations will only take place with winds of 7bft or more and with at least 2m waves during the standby period. On the 8th of June we got the desired conditions to make the 2012 edition of this epic event happen.

Video quality is probably not the best you’ve seen, but thats compensated by loads of nice windsurfing action!

Travelling to WA this winter, Italian windsurfer Ivan Zecca spent a lot of time at Margaret River by the looks of it, but who can blame him when he scored head to mast high DTL conditions worthy of a stop on the World Tour. Australia has made quite a name for itself this winter and no doubt we will be seeing even more from there next season.

French wave sailor Kilian du Couedic made the trip to Chile this December, he scored pretty epic conditions by the looks of it and put together this nice edit from the trip. Also how about being on board whilst someone is learning to double forward? Here you get the chance to see how hard the second rotation and impact can be. An epic tune, an epic line up and a sweet edit. Xensr produced this one over the last few days and it looks like the young Bernd Roediger was showing a few of the older folk that he’s in town. Incredible how he saves himself from being worked on some of those aerial landings.
