The spock 540 is a great way of changing tacks, giving the ultimate feeling of that spinney slidey freestyle. Some people actually find it easier to learn the 540 than the regular spock, as it does not involve the need to change the hands or flip the rig as much as a spock. Ultimately, deciding on which spock to do will all depend on how fast the board is spinning, or how far off the wind you start the move.
