JP Freestylewave 84

“Carves well with good grip in the turn”

“Not as controllable as most of the other boards at the top end, but more exciting to sail”

“It flows through turns and grips really well on the wave”“Quite a hard, direct ride”

Summary

The JP Freewave is one of the boards in this group that manages to mix a great range of talents into one board shape. From flat water blasting, to freestyle, to wave riding, the JP works a treat.

It’s very fast and on flat water has quite a positive ‘locked in’ blasting feel to it. The ride is quite hard, which in regular conditions makes the board quite lively and exciting to sail. At the top end, it does make it a bit harder going than some of the other boards.

For bump & jump conditions the JP is in its element. Loads of speed, great acceleration, comfortable blasting and really good freestyle potential. All the ingredients you need for a great days sailing in typical Euro conditions!

For wave riding, the JP again excels. It grips extremely well, can turn pretty hard when needed and holds speed well throughout the ride. We ranked it second best in the test to the Starboard Kode (which would put some wave boards to shame) sacrificing a little bit of performance for a little more ‘ease of use’.

Overall, its very difficult to find fault with the JP. Its a great all-round freewave board that injects plenty of speed and excitement into the package!
