DVD Review Freestyle - Feed Your Soul.

What is it?
It is a freestyle instructional and inspirational movie that breaks most moves down from the relatively simple heli tack, through to the unpronounceable and touching the near impossible. It is the follow up to Lars Petersons Free Your Mind freestyle instructional of a few years back and a very necessary DVD to own if you want to learn some tricks. There are even a few entertaining lifestyle and freesailing chapters for light relief in between your freestyle lessons!
Length
135 minutes
Who edited it?
Lars Petersen with help from our very own Jem Hall. Also Adam Thulin, Henrik Von Janda and Thomas Hamann.
What we liked about it
It is very professionally put together, and very easy to navigate through the different sections. You can watch the whole thing but we’d recommend watching one or two moves at once or maybe a whole section. After that you’ll have information overload!

Lars Peterson provides the viewer with valuable tips without going overboard, leaving it to the viewers discretion to rewind and play again. He also shows the moves lots of different angles. Head cams, mast cams, from a helicopter, from a jetbike, from the water…you name it, Lars has sought out every angle possible.
This DVD will appeal to every single windsurfer in the world, as there is no excuse for not starting your freestyle career by learning a heli tack on your beginners board or improving your gybing with many of Lars’s variations. He also covers the most advanced freestyle tricks which will be beyond the reach of most of us (for now!)
What we didn’t like
As a freestyle instructional DVD it is almost perfect. One of our reviewers wanted to see sailors crashing or nearly making the moves along with the perfect examples and then Lars’s could say where that sailor went wrong. She thought this would be an additional learning tool. However, this would probably have doubled the workload and length of the DVD.
Chick action v Bloke action
All blokes which perhaps highlights that JP and Neil Pryde do not have any female international riders.
Best bit
There are a few: Josh Stone on ‘inventing’ the spock is entertaining and there are some mind blowing moves. The Maui feature is great with the best stunt being the synchronized push loops by Josh Stone and Ricardo Campello where they collide mid air.
Bonus section
5 short and entertaining travel features, no words – just action. Pozo, Maui and Bonaire are featured and it is nice to see two other European locations: Rhodes in Greece and Klitmoller, Lars’s home break in Denmark.
What is missing?
Not a lot really. There are moves in there that will take years to master, even for the Pro’s, so it will always be useful. It maybe would have been nice to see sailors nearly making the move so then Lars’s could explain what they were doing wrong.
Music
A good mixture of cheese, funk and rock which do not overwhelm the features.

£25.99
