A kitesurfing, windsurfing & surfing action DVD filmed in Wales this winter (2006). The sections are divided into beaches and include: West Shore, Anglesey, Mountains of North Wales (kiting on snow!), Dyfi Estuary, Newgale, Freshwater West, Pendine & Porthcawl.

What we liked about it

This is something different from your run-of-the-mill action DVDs. Forget palm trees, forget boardies, forget shiny white teeth of some hotshot pro, this is water action at its rawest…well coldest!

The action isn’t always ‘pro standard’ but it really inspired us to get out there in the supposed off season. This DVD shows that you can get great sailing over the winter by investing in a hat & booties rather than a return flight to Cape Town (as long as you head to the Welsh coast). The editing is very professional and the music is cool!

The DVD really made us want to go and check out some new spots and also made winter in Britain look a lot more appealing!!

What we didn’t like

There is a lot of kitesurfing & although some of it is actually, dare we say it, quite good to watch, more windsurfing would be better!

Chick action .v. Bloke action

Yes, chicks do kite & are here doing all their spinney things with the occasional splat. If you look closely there is also an action chick sailing at Lligwy on Anglesey.

Best bits

Rhosneigr going off! Surfing the Hawaiian looking waves at Newgale. The kite loop aerial taken from the top of the Great Orme at West Shore. The snow kiting during the very cold weather in March. Watching the guy in green shorts kite – he makes it look cool!

What is missing?

Windsurfers really ripping it up in the awesome conditions at Freshwater West & Rhosneigr.

Music

The music is cool & really complements the action. It is mainly unsigned bands & the chilled out tracks sound very much like Jack Johnson.
