What we like about it:
Loads of top tips and very descriptive which is Pete Hart’s style. Watch it with a pad and pen and you will pick up lots of useful info. The Onshore Riding is a particular good section and really explains how riding in these conditions is so different than the classic down-the-line stuff we all dream about.

A lot of the sailing is done in average conditions, the sort of stuff that most of us sail in, which makes it more relevant than watching the waves being torn apart at Hookipa. There are also lots of different locations from Barbados to Rhosneigr, Pozo to the south coast of England.
What we don’t like:
The footage is dated as these set of videos were meant to originally promote the Mistral Razor which is now no longer in production. Does this matter? Well not really but it gives the video an outdated feel even though the information is still relevant. However, they really should have re-done some of the sections. For example the interview with Team MPG with Scott Sanchez when he talks about Daida Moreno and Goya being on the Team which they left in 2003.
Chick action .v. bloke action
We have some good action from Daida Moreno including very slick backloops off Pozo chop but the section ‘Gentle Touch’ which is about women sailors is not very useful as, and this comes from a woman who has been on the Tour, the girls just don’t cut it compared to the men, not even Daida at an international level. Why this is, is an interesting question but no one dares address it. The section just says yes you can be as good as the men but doesn’t really explain how other than ‘just go for it’.
Best bit
The Styling section shows off the world’s best wave riders which is always a pleasant experience. However that is toped off by watching people’s attempts at looping on Pete Hart’s clinic – always a laugh.
Bonus section
No, although the DVD ends with a trailer for Pete Hart’s forward loop clinic held in Fuerteventura in 2004 which is to be Serious About Waves 3.
What is missing?
Peter Hart looping!
Music
Basically listen to the words, forget the music.

DVD 2: SPAM
What is it?
Action packed windsurfing DVD with footage from the last two years showcasing the world’s best sailors at all the best spots including Maui, Cape Town, Pozo and Klittemøller. It also has a lengthy bonus section which includes footage from the indoor event at the London Boat Show, Trade Mark Moves and a Cape Town & Maui spot guide.
Length
68 mins + 30 min bonus
Who edited it?
SynVision
What we liked about it?
Some really cool footage as the guys filming it (mainly Pro windsurfer Robert Sands) were in the right places at the right times. The video follows the main events of the 2004 PWA Tour & highlights from the 2005 Hawaii Pro event in Maui. Then it visits Klittemøller, a place which very few windsurfers will have seen footage from, and to have the PWA stars sailing here after a fairly windless Sylt, makes for some killer action.
The Guides to Maui and Cape Town are excellent and something we haven’t seen before on a windsurfing DVD. |

What we don't like?
Not a lot really. Maybe the Klittemøller section was a touch too long but really we’re being picky.
Chick action .v. bloke action
No girly action apart from at the London Boat Show indoor event.
Best bit
It’s a close call between Jason Polakow’s tweaked aerial in the opening sequence or Jonas Ceballos’s monster backloops at Klittemøller.
Bonus section
Yes. We have Trade Mark Moves, London Indoor 2005, a Josh Angulo interview and the spot guides to Maui and Cape Town.
What is missing?
A bit more girly action??
Music
Cool! Not all thrashy punk rock which is the usual fair of these types of DVD’s. Songs from Echobelly and Soulmatic as well as Stomped give the DVD a polished finish and add to the action rather than distract you from it.
