The IFCA World Slalom Championships is currently running in South Africa, along with the already legendary Big Bag Classic wave event. So far the wind has not been behaving exactly as planned but by moving the event site organisers have managed to get the competition underway.

In the slalom its neck and neck after 3 rounds between Britains Ross Williams and Benny Van Der Steen from Holland. As they go into the last day Ross leads by 1 place, with 1,2,1 against Bens 2,1,2. The final day will surely be a test for both riders.

The wave sailors ended up sailing with wind from the right at a spot called Scarborough. SA is normally known for its port tack sailing, but NW forced the competitors to move down the coast. Conditions were good and the first 2 rounds were competed.

Standout sailors were Klaas Voget and the 2 Boardseeker babes Ben Proffitt and Phil Horrocks. However today the wind has gone back to its more normal direction and organisers hope to finish off the elimination at Big Bay in more typical SA conditions.

Stay tuned to find out if Ross can stay on top and who will come out victorious in the Big Bay classic Wave elimination.
