Bronze for Bryony

Well as expected there was a dramatic climax to the Olympic windsurfing with everything to play for going into the final, medal race.

The good news for Britain is that Bryony held on to her 3rd place and takes home the Bronze medal. By the sounds of things it was close racing right until the end, with Bryony fighting off a challenge from the young Spaniard Marina Alabau. A heart warming interview on BBC will surely make her even more of a super star so a massive well done to her.

Poor Nick however by all accounts was robbed. Having been in a medal position for most of the week he slipped slightly in the final race and dropped to the dreaded 4th place. The format of the medal race puts so much emphasize on the last race and by all accounts it was quite a lottery. Gusty and shifty conditions meant the race was shortened and basically gave no room to improve. Our commiserations go to Nick and I think everyone is really proud of his performance all week.

So the final medal positions go to:

MENS

Gold        NZL Tom Ashley
Silver       FRA Julien Bontemps
Bronze    ISR Shahar Zubari

Gold         CHN Jian Yin
Silver        ITA Alessandra Sensini
Bronze     GBR Bryony Shaw
