UKWA Slalom Round 3

With a highly successful tour so far this year the UKWA JP/Neil Pryde Slalom series moved to Hove this weekend and once again scored some epic conditions.

The first day of slalom saw 8 Rounds of downwind slalom in excellent conditions, with most people used 6.5m sails in rolling swell. After a shaky start (finishing 2nd) Jamie Hawkins switched on to take 7 straight wins.

Sunday dawned with 20+ knots, with most people opting for 5.5m sails in small breaking waves. Jamie started where he left off with back to back wins, to convincingly win the event (only counting first places after the discards). Alan Jackson took 2nd, whilst Xavier Ferlet took 3rd.

In the Challenge Fleet it was a really close battle between Paul Kearus and youth sailor Sam Latham, with Paul eventually taking the win by 2 pts. Junior sailor Sam Sills finished 3rd with some impressively consistent sailing.

Next stop on the tour is in September in Poole, so get tuned up over the summer and get yourself to round 5.
