Life as we know is full of experiences, and Boardseeker’s latest interviewee has certainly had plenty of them in an action packed life. Growing up as the younger brother to the UK’s most successful Professional Windsurfer, Ant Baker’s future seemed almost mapped out for him since before he left school.
Sure enough, a professional career did follow, seeing Ant sailing on the World Tour for 8 years, living on Maui with Nik and Jason Polakow (in a house they rented from Josh Stone), developing and testing gear, and eventually becoming Brand Manager for Arrows sails. Life was good, and the sailing and parties even better.
Quiet, reserved, shy… are hardly words you would ever use to describe him, but this is probably not a fair assessment of a man following his passions, and working hard in order to play harder!
Now 34 years young, Ant certainly shows no sign of slowing down, and after winning the British Slalom Association Title this year, being nominated for the UK Windsurfer of the Year, and working hard on his coaching business – thoughts now turn to a possible PWA comeback.
Boardseeker thought it was high time to catch up with Ant, and who better to have a chat with Ant than the man who knows him best – Nik Baker. So put on the kettle, kick back with a cuppa, and meet the Baker Boys:
