As time flies when you are busy (and you are having fun), we couldn’t update you about the EFPT in June. Nevertheless we have even more for this month.
As the days draw closer for the next EFPT event, the 3 Style Area Cup in Sigri, Lesvos the preregistration list for the contest begins to fill up. With a very international fleet of top sailors, the tour stop in Greece promises to be a fair and exciting battle for the podium places. We’ve got riders from France like Nicolas Akgazciyan (Starboard), world class Dutch rider Davy Scheffers, Youp Schmit (JP/Neilpryde) from Bonaire, North/Fanatic teamriders from Italy (Mattia Fabrizi) and Austria (Max Matissek), top UK freestyler Adam Sims (Patrik) as well as some more renowned sailors from Germany, Greece, Turkey, Slovenia and even Israel. While the date of the event is coming up with big steps, the organiser managed to pull another sponsor on board. The local company ‘Veto Ouzo’, with its basis in the center Mytilene and an owner who is into windsurfing himself, he realized the potential of the spot and the event and decided to step in.
The wind has howling on the island of Lesvos and especially in Sigri, for the last 30 days non stop! An incredible place for freestyle, with the option of some nice waves further outside and a traditional Greek village make this spot so attractive. Flights from the UK to Mytilene (the airport of Lesvos) go from Heathrow and Stansted with Aegean Airlines, who also offer reasonable prices for the transport of surf luggage. For accommodation it’s best to check out sunandfun.com or write to Marcel Simon himself (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you are not interested in pulling 50 kilos of surf-gear through the airports of this planet, the Sigri Surf Center offers new Tabou boards and Simmer sails for rent. Check out their website if you want to know more about the newcomer amongst the Greek surf-mekkas: www.sigrisurf.com
With the final confirmation of another EFPT event for 2012, June has been a very successful and positive month for the tour. Steve Palier and Fred Bosson the organisers of the EFE in France managed to get the support and budget together to stage an EFPT event with 5.000 prize money this year. The competition is going to take place in Six Fours les Plages, located in the South of France near Marseille from the 27th to the 31st of October 2012. The best French freestylers and members of the ‘Team France Windsurf’ confirmed their venue. Riders like Nicolas Akgazciyan (Starboard), Adrien Bosson (North/Fanatic) and Julien Mas (Patrik) will try to battle their way up into the top positions. For no wind days, the event will offer a big program also consisting of a daily tow-in action.
To fill in the time until October, the organisation decided to launch a video contest for amateurs. With the theme of ‘100% freestyle’ everybody who wants to participate shall make their own 2-5mins long clip. The top five videos are going to be presented at the event with the audience being the last judges. The biggest applause will decide the winner. Prizes range from a brand new 2012 4.7 Loftsails Wavescape to an ION wetsuit, MB fins, Contour camera kit to a North Sail Silver Boom (140/190).

We are still on stand by for the confirmation of Alacati, Turkey where the team of Ralf Busse (ASPC) is finalizing contracts with a main sponsor as well as some co-sponsors. We hope to get the confirmation as soon as possible to prepare the riders who intend to compete in all the EFPT events this year.
