Tow-in windsurfing is going from strength to strength, with 2013 being one of the best year’s for this side of the sport yet. Find out more about the EFTP 2013 tow-in season, where none other than Gollito Estredo took the win…
We launched the 2013 season with the Chiemsee European Tow-In Championship which gained huge recognition since last year when it was staged for the first time. With the riders literally in the spotlight, at one of the largest windsurfing events in the world, a great year already got off to a good start.
When the title for the European Tow-In Champion was handed to Steven Van Broeckhoven (JP/Neilpryde) another tow-in competition was not scheduled for this year. Uwe Jendrusch, organiser of the DAM7 event in Holland, who was a guest in Podersdorf, decided to bring the tow-in action to his spot at the Surf- and Zeilcentrum in Brouwersdam. With 3.000€ prize-money for the top 8, a lot of sailors who already competed in Austria and also some rookies gave it a go at one of Hollands most famous freestyle spots.
Even though an overall ranking for the tow-in wasn’t planned for this season, the race office decided to create one in order for riders, sponsors and media to see how the result out of those two events looks like. The 5.000€ event was calculated with 500 points for the winner whilst the 3.000€ event was calculated with 300 points. You’ll find the top 14 riders in the list below:
The ranking allows a good overview of the performance this year and will be especially relevant for seeding of the Chiemsee European Tow-In Championship 2014. The discipline developed a lot this year and we are looking forward to see where our riders will take it in the future!
