With the conditions in Pozo still not playing ball, Boardseeker caught up with Boujmaa Guilloul as he makes his welcomed return to the tour…
“It’s pretty mellow here right now, no wind, no waves. Just waiting and waiting.
“It’s not the way I’m used to seeing Pozo, it’s a totally different place, it looks like a Mediterranean beach!
“I’m all back in one piece, and as excited about windsurfing as always.
“I’m just really in need of some sailing! There was no wind in Morocco so I thought I should come and compete here. I had been thinking for about a month that I should compete and should try and get back on tour. At first I couldn’t get a wild card and it would have been a huge investment if I came for the trials and didn’t make it, but then I thought if I could get into the main event I would come and luckily I did.
“I’m not sure about the rest of the tour yet, if I get a wild card for Tenerife I think I will go and I’ll go to Denmark, maybe not Germany. Then Chile and if Maui happens then I will go there for sure.
“It should be not bad on Friday I think! I’ve got Klaas in the first round. I’m not aiming for anything, it’s been two years since I’ve sailed in these conditions so it’s going to be hard! I’ve sailed port tack for the storm chase, and Teahupoo is port tack riding, but that’s a little different from here!
“I am just thinking about the moves I know I can do like push loop table top, back loops, stalled forward, table top forwards and things like that. I’m thinking about trying doubles, and wave moves and maybe a push loop off the lip if we get some good wind and ramps! Usually that’s the only way through! If I can make all I’ve just said I’m fairly sure I can make it through most of the heats, well unless it’s against Koester, Brawzinho or any of the other guys that can do all the insane stuff!”
Good luck Boujmaa, the forecast is looking promising for tomorrow and the weekend so we hope all the waiting will be worth it!
