Kicking off the week we have the Norwegian freestyle beauty Oda Johanne, who has been preparing for the biggest freestyle event of the year in Fuerteventura next month. Training in Bonaire, Oda has really progressed since last year and will be fighting hard to maintain her ranking as the vice freestyle World Champion, and who knows, even fight for the top spot.
Meanwhile, there are quite a few heavy injury updates over the last few days. We already heard of Gollito Estredo being down and out due to a fractured rib, which will only be better just before PWA Fuerteventura and could well be affecting him during the event. In the meantime he has been working on a new video, we can’t wait for that to drop.
We also heard of current tour leader, Steven Van Broekchoven fracturing his 5th metatarsal in his foot, which will leave him in a cast for the next weeks.
The latest casualties include Rick Jendrusch, who was also training in Egypt at the same time as Van Broeckhoven and sustained a broken left wrist. Promising to be back on the water in time to sail at PWA Fuerteventura, Rick needs to be fit in three weeks to begin a quick ‘rehab’ so he can compete. More about Jendrusch’s bad crash here.
Also on the list is wave sailor Omar Sanchez, who has been off the water due to a twisted ankle. A badly timed injury but he should be fit for the PWA World Tour stop in Pozo in three weeks time, especially thanks to the newly qualified Physiotherapist, Daida Moreno.
We wish all these guys a speedy recovery and hope to see them all competing at the upcoming events.
Lastly, we wrap up this morning with some action from Ireland. Finn Mellon has produced this clip from sessions he captured during May this year.
