Conditions were not great today at Punta Preta, but just enough to be able to run the final of the single elimination and start the double elimination. The swell was smaller with a tide that made the waves brake nearly on dry rocks, and very light wind, they manage to get some competition done with a pretty intese final.
The final was put on hold, waiting for the waves to improve with the tide. In the meantime they run the first four heats of the double.
Taboulet, Sorlut, Horrocks, Voget, Denel, Campello, Fonseca and Guadagnino didn\’t make it through the first round, so the event is over for them.
Then the head Judge decided to run the final. Polakaw, Seadi, Swift and Andulo were ready to make the best out of the conditions, with the wave breaking on the rocks.
It was hard to get waves, and the selection was decisive. Polakow was risking it all, with some vertical hard hits, that sent him on the rocks. Swift made his best to get the third place, but could not beat his team mate and friend Polakaw that got the bronze.
Angulo was looking agressive and determine to defend his title, but Kauli chose the best tactic, looking for more open waves, combining aerials and tight turns that drove him straight into first place.
After the final, they run a few more heats from the double elimination, with some mayor surprises. Levi couldn\’t make it and he lost, together with Vidar Jensen, to Jonas Ceballos and Marcilio Browne. Nick Baker and Guillol also lost to Traversa and young Camille Juban. The event is over for them too.
Then the swell started to disappear and the wind was too light, so they cancelled the heat with McKercher, Katchdourian, Skye and Williams.
They will be on hold now with a very unpredictable forecast. We will keep an eye to keep you informed.
